What is Adaptive Soccer?

Adaptive soccer is soccer modified to accommodate individuals with disabilities, allowing them to participate in the sport. Sporting Kaw Valley along with the Kansas Youth Soccer Association are proud to announce their joint endeavor to introduce the TOPSoccer program in Lawrence and Manhattan, Kansas.


TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) is a recreational soccer program for children and adults with intellectual, emotional or physical disabilities. The Program provides athletes an opportunity to play soccer in a structured environment that is safe, fun, supportive and inclusive.


Sporting Kaw Valley proudly stands as the inaugural KSYSA TOPSoccer Program in Lawrence and Manhattan, Kansas! 

Adaptive Soccer Programming

3-18 Year Olds

SKV's Fall Adaptive Soccer program consists of four event dates, two in Lawrence and two in Manhattan. This one hour program engages in activities that focus on social skills, teamwork, perseverance, and confidence, all well enjoying the game with soccer! The sessions are led by trained coaches and volunteers with a variety of soccer activities to keep all players engaged.


Manhattan

October 11 - Peace Memorial City Auditorium - 3PM-4PM

December 6 - Peace Memorial City Auditorium - 1:30PM-2:30PM


Lawrence

September 20 - East Lawrence Rec Center - 1PM-2PM

November 1 - East Lawrence Rec Center - 1PM-2PM

Adaptive Soccer Program Volunteers

12+ Year Olds

Each participant is assigned a volunteer, trained ‘Buddy’ who is typically a little older and neurotypical. This Buddy works with their player individually and makes sure they are safe, engaged, supported, and having fun. Registration to be a buddy is OPEN!
