Our History

Sporting Kaw Valley (SKV), which was formed after the merger between the Prodigy Youth Soccer Club (Topeka) and the Kaw Valley Soccer Association (Lawrence), is now one of the largest and most successful soccer clubs in Northeastern Kansas. Sporting Kaw Valley (SKV) was established as a non-profit organization in 1982 and provides the opportunity for nearly 2200 children, between 3-19 years of age, to participate in recreational, academy, and competitive soccer programs and activities each year.

Our Mission

The mission of Sporting Kaw Valley (SKV) is to introduce the game of soccer to youth of all ages and skill levels with the purpose of providing the opportunity for each player to develop to their highest potential. SKV strives to maintain an environment that embodies the core values of integrity, leadership, perseverance, respect and teamwork while enhancing self-esteem, promoting self-confidence and cultivating a lifelong passion for the game of soccer.

ORGANIZATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

Sporting Kaw Valley is committed to developing boys and girls of all ages and ability. Like many successful academic institutions, our approach to education and development is influenced by the several fundamental characteristics and guiding principles.

  4. Provide quality training and learning facilities
  5. Age appropriate curriculum is used to guide training and development
  6. Evaluate and appropriately place every player, every year, to maximize development
  7. Recruit and retain exceptional coaches, trainers, administrators, and volunteers
  8. Players and coaches shall be frequently monitored and provided feedback
  9. Insure effective leadership and management over the organization
  10. Continuous commitment to professional and organizational development
  11. Create and maintain a culture that encourages family and community involvement
